Financial Momentum Pilot Project

Helping individuals and families break the paycheck-to-paycheck cycle—one month at a time.

Why This Project Exists

Too many people are doing everything right—and still falling behind.

At PDX Money Coaching, we’ve spent over a decade working 1:1 with more than 500 individuals and families. We've seen how transformative financial coaching can be — But we’ve also seen the limitations of a system that keeps people stuck in survival mode.

The Financial Momentum Pilot Project was created to offer a reset: a chance to get one month ahead financially, with the structure and support to stay there. This isn’t about charity—it’s about dignity, stability, and momentum.

“True individual freedom cannot exist without economic security and independence.”
— President Franklin D. Roosevelt, 1944

How It Works

Participants in this pilot receive:
✔️ A one-time financial gift (typically 1–2 months of their usual income)
✔️ A personalized Sustainable Spending Plan
✔️ 3–6 months of financial coaching and support

This model builds on the success of programs like SEED (Stockton, CA), the Magnolia Mother’s Trust (Jackson, MS), and Mincome (Canada), which have shown that direct financial support leads to better mental health, employment, and planning.

But this project goes one step further—pairing money with coaching to offer not just relief, but lasting momentum.
